Kongde Loop
The Kongde Loop is one of our greatest memories from multiple trips running in the Khumbu Valley. It‘s got everything we love about running in the mountains of Nepal.
Kongde is made up of nothing more than a couple of luxury lodges perched high above Namche Bazar. It offers one of the best panoramas of the 8000-meter peaks in the region, and has a small lake situated above the lodges that’s perfect for sunrise photos. Almost no one goes there - I had certainly never heard of anyone visiting the lodges - and when I asked about them, Nepali friends said that the only trekkers who stay there use helicopters for access. The reason is likely that the lodges are completely off the main trekking routes and unless you take a heli, reaching the lodges requires some work.
Curiosity and excitement for that panorama caused us to have a look. We told the full story here.
