Pangboche Peak
We were promised some of the very best views in the Khumbu, and were stoked to try a dry peak to over 5000 meters. We went up in decent weather only to be engulfed by thick clouds and blowing snow as we got to the good stuff.
Nevertheless, there was something special about this one.
It’s an honest grind, little to almost no running. Even the descent, which is pressed tundra grass, is too steep to do much running.
Why is it in our trail running guide? Because runners in the Himalaya are going to be the kind of people who enjoy 1400 meters of vert in 4km, won’t carry much, and can be down quickly if necessary after having a great time. Plus, someone has to see the views we missed. Tell us about it.
